Cache County Straw Poll Results

Mike Lee Utah U.S. Senate CandidateA straw poll was held last night at the Cache County Reupblican Party’s Lincoln Day dinner.  Here are the results:

1. Mike Lee – 102

2. Bob Bennett – 97

3. Tim Bridgewater – 44

4. Merrill Cook – 6

5. Cherilyn Eagar – 5

That means 62% did not vote for Bob Bennett, and since the convention is multiple round balloting, that is enough for a challenger to defeat Bennett in the convention (that is if Cache County is representative of the rest of the state).

One Response to Cache County Straw Poll Results

    1. This straw poll was a fake.

It shows who is spending the most to buy vote. One candidate’s team reported that they were called less than a week and told that if they didn’t donate over $1000 to the county party, they would not on the ballot – so they paid, and another candidate’s team reported that they were not even asked to donate the $1000.

That candidate wasn’t on the ballot, and their table wasn’t even given ballots. There were 350 people there and only 255 ballots cast.

The two best speeches were Bridgewater and Eagar. People came up afterwords and said they would have voted for another candidate, but couldn’t because their table was bought and paid for by “their” candidate, who was watching to make sure they voted for the team that bought their ticket.

This obviously is a contest of who can bring more corruption to politics. We don’t need that. The dinner was great. The Straw poll was an embarrassment to the county party.
